We believe that herbalism has always been the ‘medicine of the people’ and aim to provide affordable person-centred herbal care, with its roots in the local community. We also recognise that all of our health depends on the health of our land, and so we use an ecological approach, prescribing native and Organic Scottish herbs as far as possible, and using herbs grown and foraged in Wester Hailes to ‘Close The Circle.’
It is run by three professional Medical Herbalists Kathryn McArthur (she/her) & Audrey Marchbank (she/her) & Ally Hurcikova (she/her).
The Wester Hailes Community Herbal Clinic is open every Wednesday from 9am to 5.30pm

About The Clinic
The Wester Hailes Community Herbal Clinic was established in 2015 and is currently proud to be one of only two examples in Britain of herbalism being offered in an integrated primary care setting alongside local NHS services. You can read our two year project report about the clinic here.
Our clinic runs out of the Wester Hailes Healthy Living Centre where we work in collaboration with the Health Agency & the Wester Hailes Medical Practice.
In 2018 we were proud to be runners up in the Self Care & Prevention Category of the British Complementary Therapy Awards, and to be the only Scottish finalist in any category.
& in 2021 we were the Inaugural winners of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists Award for ‘Herbalism in the Community’
Most of our patients come via referral from our partners, but you can also self-refer if you are a local resident to Wester Hailes. Just book yourself an appointment below.

I have been coming to see Ally with my son who is 16 and has additional support needs at Wester Hailes Healthy Living Centre for a couple of years now. Ally listens very carefully to us both and is very sensitive to my sons needs especially, it feels almost like a counselling session! She does not lead, she just asks questions to clarify the physical or psychological symptoms we are having and then suggests a course of herbal treatment as appropriate. The herbal medicines have been very suitable for us both as we tend to be oversensitive to other drugs so the herbal treatment gently but directly helps the problem. The project has enabled us to access herbal treatment at an affordable cost. We would really recommend the clinic and Ally to others.
